Scientists and engineers process measurements gathered by the radar altimeter on board TOPEX/Poseidon to produce six separate data sets focusing on: ocean topography, sea-surface variability, significant wave height, wind speed, precipitable water vapor and total electron content.
These datasets enable scientists to meet the project objective of a better understanding of global ocean circulation and its effect on the world's climate.
